Sitting on the lake shore

Nestling on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake at the foot of the dramatic Skiddaw Mountain. Boasting breath-taking views and bursting with opportunities for outdoor adventure, this idyllic setting is perfect for getting back to nature in one of the Lake District’s most unspoilt beauty spots. A SSSI – Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Bassenthwaite Lake – ‘the only true lake in the National Park’.

In season you have direct access to Bassenthwaite Lake from the jetty, just a two-minute stroll down the park from the lodge, explore the lake’s rich heritage of birdlife, fish, shoreside flora and fauna. If you are lucky glimpse the Osprey catching dinner.

You can also enjoy swimming or if you have the equipment feel free to bring it with you and sail, kayak, canoe or paddle board they are all welcome (however motorised vessels are prohibited on the lake). Please follow the Rules for the Lake.

Pets

We welcome up to two well behaved pets at the lodge. We have feeding bowls, water bowls and drying towels ready and waiting for them. We do make a small charge per night per pet and they are not allowed through to the bathroom/bedroom area or on the furniture. After their walks, please dry them off and clean any dirty paws.

Nestled in the heart of nature

The lodge is set right in the heart of nature (holding the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation) with plenty of walks/cycle routes straight from the lodge, no need to drive to find an escape. Watch the birds feeding and if you are lucky, you may see the squirrels. On occasional evenings the Barn Owl comes looking for his dinner in the parks dog walking field.

You will be pleased you came

Whether you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, reconnect with nature, or simply indulge in a well-deserved retreat, our lodge offers a unique experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired.
